I see J.B. Barrie as an incredible fantasy writer and explorer of magical worlds. He continues his trend in what some call the "adult version" of his own Peter Pan. I was called to the piece because I saw this play as his Midsummer Night's Dream, and, quite pleasantly, J.M. Barrie includes many references to Shakespeare and Midsummer throughout the piece. I was called to this play by it's character transformations and subsequently the transformation of its audience.
A large part of the movement of the piece was structured off my experience with devised direction from Emily Ritger.
All of the transitional scenes involved a falling sequence created by the entire cast and creative team through movement exploration.
Most of the production time was spent thinking about the safety of the actors. The goal was to stay more than compliant to all of the COVID precautions and we are thrilled to say no one caught any illness through the entire production.
Masks, outdoors, special staging diagrams, distance, tests, and more were all used in combination to create this performance and succeed in several invited, masked performances.
